I got the call to photograph YJ and Dan’s Washington, DC wedding celebration about a month before the big day. A wonderful team of vendors was being assembled to make this evening happen, and I jumped at the chance to work with them all again.
Then I did a quick google search and discovered that YJ and Dan are pretty much the coolest couple ever, and I could only hope that some of their awesomeness would rub off on me during our time together.
And then, I found out that there was a slim possibility that a dear friend of theirs might just make an appearance. It turns out Dan was the director of speech writing for Hillary Rodham Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, as well as a principal collaborator on her 2017 memoir “What Happened.” YJ is a force as well, having worked as a State Department diplomat implementing the Iranian nuclear agreement and working toward peace negotiations in Syria. Needless to say, I was pretty excited to meet these two, and quite honored to have been chosen to document a special gathering of their friends and families.
Since they had already officially tied the knot on a ridge overlooking the Pacific Ocean in November, this was an opportunity for YJ and Dan to read their vows once more and listen to a series of toasts from some of the best speech writers around. Great music and plenty of dancing capped off a night filled with love and laughter. Best wishes to YJ and Dan. Enjoy!
